Safety and Security Plan
As in years past, safety and security will remain a top priority for Dubiski Career High School. Please take a moment to review these procedures as we prepare for a school devoted to the education, protection and service of our students and families.
Staff will continuously monitor every exterior door and classroom door in the building throughout the school day. As a reminder, do not prop open exterior or classroom doors for any reason and do not unlock classroom or exterior doors when students are present for any reason. Locked and secured doors save lives and ensure a secure and safe learning and working environment for everyone at Dubiski Career High School.
The campus will continue the use of metal detectors as students enter the building each morning. Bag checks will be conducted and safety wands used when appropriate. Students who arrive late will pass through metal detectors before proceeding to class. Student resource officers, administrators, and security officers will continuously monitor the campus and students during classes and passing periods.
All students and staff are required to wear IDs at all times while on campus. Students will receive a new ID on the first day of school. If a student does not have an ID, they will be required to purchase a replacement. ID replacement cost – 1st replacement = $1.00, subsequent replacements = $5.00.
All visitors will need to report to the main entrance at the main campus (Door 1). Parking is located directly in front of the building. Once visitors arrive at the main door, they will use the doorbell to verify their identity before buzzing into the building. After entering the main doors, all visitors will report to the main office to receive a visitor badge and assistance from campus staff. ALL CHECKOUTS will initiate from the main building.
Weekly classroom searches will continue during the 2025-2026 school year. Classrooms are chosen at random and will be composed of two parts upon execution: 1) All student backpacks and bags will be searched for weapons, drugs, and other illegal/unauthorized substances or items. 2) Students will be searched with a Security Wand in the hallway while in the hallway.
Regular K9 drug searches will continue during the school year. Student bags and belongings will be searched by a trained K9 and its handler from the Grand Prairie PD. A security wand will be used to search students who wait in the hallway. Classrooms will be chosen at random for K9 Drug searches.
Campus bathrooms will be chosen at random to be searched weekly. Students in the bathroom will be security checked with a Security Wand.
The following Safety and Security drills will be conducted regularly and intermittently throughout the 2025-2026 school year:
- Fire Drill
- Severe Weather Drill
- Lockdown Drill
- Secure Drill
- General Evacuation Drill
- Hazmat Drill
All faculty, staff and students will evacuate the building according to the evacuation plan placard which has been disseminated to the faculty. Also, faculty and students will follow the Standard Response Protocols on the placard that has been distributed.
We will continue to work together to make Dubiski Career High School a safe learning environment.
